Alex Hodge enters his 22nd season working in the college football video field and his eighth with Arizona State University. In his time at ASU, Hodge has been responsible for managing the football video department. Hodge and his staff provide daily video and technical support to the football coaches and staff. They oversee the acquisition of practice and game video for player evaluation as well as various productions. Hodge began his video career at Illinois State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in communications in 2003. A native of Hoopeston, Illinois, Hodge learned and studied videography under mentor and longtime local media instructor Dan Reed. Following graduation at Illinois State, Hodge worked in multiple athletic departments as a video coordinator. Hodge joined the University of Wisconsin athletic department in 2003 as an assistant video coordinator. In his role, Hodge worked closely with Badger Football and maintained the digital video network in Camp Randall Stadium. He provided daily technical support to the football staff and edited all practice and game footage. He produced weekly motivational videos and coordinated various productions for UW athletics.
In 2006, Hodge was named the video coordinator for Rice University under the direction of former ASU football head coach Todd Graham, where he would ultimately join Graham at the University of Tulsa the next season in 2007. Hodge helped many of the sports in the Tulsa Athletic Department transition to the era of digital video exchange. Hodge made his last stop at the University of Pittsburgh before joining the Sun Devils in 2012. Reunited at ASU with longtime colleague, Dan Wayne, together they have established Arizona State’s video department into one of the most well-respected programs in the country. They came together to design the state-of-the-art video lab in the student-athlete facility, which includes a 60-station XOS digital network. Throughout his career, Hodge has worked under former NFL head coaches Herm Edwards and Steve Wilks.
Hodge has been a member of the Collegiate Sports Video Association since 2000.
